Stencil Typeface SETT

A stencil typeface built from a single rule: every glyph consists exclusively of vertical strokes. The width of every stroke, counter, and the space between letters is determined by the same unit, creating a continuous rhythm of black and white.

The rule becomes especially apparent in characters whose forms rely strongly on diagonals or horizontal connections. Their shapes have to be constructed through the placement and interruption of vertical elements without losing their recognisability.

Although designed as a display typeface, SETT also functions as a tool for generating structured patterns: when several characters are placed next to each other, the repeating strokes and gaps create patterns of their own.

Letter recognition relies on the position and spacing of the vertical elements. Rounded corners and angled cuts help distinguish similar characters while staying within the same system.
